What Is an In-Built VPN and How Does It Work

All Simify eSIMs include an in-built VPN (Virtual Private Network) to help keep your connection private and reliable while you travel. It works quietly in the background — there's nothing to install, activate, or configure.

What Does the In-Built VPN Do?

Encrypts your internet connection
Routes your data through a secure connection
Helps protect your online activity while travelling
Allows access to common apps and services in regions where restrictions may apply

Do I Need to Do Anything?

Nope! The VPN runs automatically as part of your eSIM connection. There is nothing to download, activate, or set up.

App Restrictions for Certain Asian Destinations

While all Simify eSIMs include an in-built VPN, some apps may still have restrictions depending on where you're travelling.

In Japan, China, Macau, and Hong Kong, TikTok and ChatGPT may be restricted or unavailable
This restriction is enforced by the network supplier and is outside of Simify's control
All other apps should work normally

Note: The in-built VPN helps with general connectivity and privacy, but it cannot override country-level app restrictions enforced by local network suppliers.
