This guide walks you through the full setup, from installing your eSIM on your iPhone to getting online when you arrive at your destination.
Install the Simify App
The Simify app is the easiest way to get your eSIM installed on your iPhone. It also lets you track your usage so you don’t unexpectedly run out of data.
Install Your eSIM
Need an eSIM first? Visit simify.com
You can install your eSIM as soon as you’ve purchased it. Installing it will not start your data plan straight away.
Open the Simify app, find your eSIM, and tap Install on this phone. What happens next depends on your iOS version.
Automatic Installation (iOS 17.4+)
If your iPhone is running iOS 17.4 or later, the app handles most of the work for you.
- Tap Activate
This is part of the iPhone installation process. It won’t start your travel plan.
- Tap Continue
This might take a minute.
- Tap Done
This finishes the installation.
If iOS shows any of the prompts below, choose:
- Where will you use this eSIM?
Select Abroad - Which type of plan do you have?
Select Data Only - Turn On Travel eSIM
Select Travel eSIM and Current SIM - Low Data Mode
Select Not Now
That's it. Your eSIM should be installed.
Check Your eSIM
In some cases, your iPhone may automatically switch the eSIM on after installation. If you have not arrived at your destination yet, check that it is turned off for now.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Mobile Service (or Cellular)
- Make sure your eSIM is turned Off
It may be listed as Simify, Travel, or another label.
Once that is done, you are all set until you arrive. When you arrive at your destination, follow the steps in Start Using Your eSIM.
Manual Installation (iOS 17.3 and earlier)
If your iPhone does not support automatic installation, you can install your eSIM manually. It takes a few extra steps, but the process is straightforward.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Mobile Service (or Cellular)
- Tap Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan)
- Select Use QR Code, then tap Enter Details Manually
- Copy and paste your SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code
You can find these in the Simify app under My eSIMs. Select your eSIM, then scroll down to Order Details.
- Tap Next in the top-right corner

- Assign a name to your new eSIM line and tap continue
- Select Primary as your Default Line
This keeps your home number for calls and SMS. Charges may apply.
- Select Primary for iMessage & FaceTime
- Select your home SIM for Mobile Data
If you are already at your destination, select your Simify eSIM instead.
- Make sure Mobile Data Switching is turned Off
- Tap Continue
This completes the installation.

Your eSIM should now be installed.
Start Using Your eSIM
Now that your eSIM is installed, the last step is to turn it on and get connected. Do this when you’re abroad and in one of the countries covered by your plan.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Mobile Service (or Cellular)
- Select your eSIM and turn it On
It may be listed as Simify, Travel, or another label.

- Turn Data Roaming On
- Go back to Mobile Service, then tap Mobile Data
- Select the same eSIM for Mobile Data
- Make sure Mobile Data Switching is turned Off

You should be online within a few minutes. In some areas it can take a little longer, so give it a moment. If you’re still not connecting, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off or restarting your phone.
